InfiRay P2 Pro or Spark Pro?

The InfiRay P2 Pro (also sold under the Thermal Master name) and Spark Pro use the same class of sensor: 256×192 thermal pixels at 25 frames a second. So the choice comes down to size, temperature range, accessories — and how each one plugs into your phone.

Some listings give the P2 Pro's top temperature as 600 °C; InfiRay's own data sheet says 550 °C.

Where the P2 Pro is the better choice

  • Size. It weighs 9 g and measures 27 × 18 × 9.8 mm. Spark Pro weighs about 21 g.
  • Macro lens. The clip-on macro lens lets it focus on a circuit board and pick out a single hot component. If you repair electronics, this is the reason to choose it. Spark Pro has no macro option.
  • Higher temperatures. Up to 550 °C, against 350 °C for Spark Pro.
  • Slightly wider view — 56° across instead of 50°.
  • A case in the box. Retailers list a small carry case with every version. Spark Pro comes as the camera alone.

Where Spark Pro is the better choice

  • It plugs straight into a USB-C iPhone. The P2 Pro for iPhone has a Lightning plug and reaches a USB-C port through an adapter. Reviewers found that generic adapters often don't work, so you rely on the one that comes with it — and the Android USB-C version doesn't work with an iPhone at all. Spark Pro is one camera with a USB-C plug for iPhone 15 Pro to 17 and Android 12 or newer.
  • Switching phones. Because it's the same camera for iPhone and Android, you can move it between a family member's Android and your iPhone.
  • Buying it. From us: free tracked shipping (usually 7–19 business days), 30-day returns, and a full refund including return shipping if it doesn't work with a phone we list as compatible.

So which one?

For electronics — boards, chargers, small components up close — the P2 Pro with its macro lens is the better tool. For home checks on a USB-C phone — leaks, drafts, insulation, hot outlets — the two see the same detail, and Spark Pro is the simpler one to plug in and use. For close checks only, Spark (96×96) is also an option. More on what fits which iPhone: thermal cameras for iPhone 15, 16 and 17.

Questions

Do the P2 Pro and Spark Pro see the same detail?

Yes, on paper: both have a 256×192 thermal sensor and refresh at 25 Hz. The P2 Pro's view is slightly wider, so each pixel covers a little more of the wall.

Does the P2 Pro work with iPhone 16?

The iOS version has a Lightning plug and connects to a USB-C iPhone through the adapter that comes with it. The Android USB-C version doesn't work with iPhone.

Is there a macro lens for Spark Pro?

No. If you need to look at circuit boards up close, the P2 Pro with its macro lens is the better choice.

Which one is better for finding leaks?

Either. A leak shows up as a cooler patch, and both cameras have the same sensor resolution. Spark Pro plugs straight into USB-C, which makes it quicker to set up on an iPhone 15 Pro, 16 or 17.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if it's unused and in its original packaging. If it doesn't work with a phone we list as compatible, we refund you in full, including return shipping.
